The SLAFAR has concerned to educate youth in Ahangama. A workshop was organized and conducted at Ahangama Saiputhra Maha Vidyalaya on 02nd February 2016 by three SLAFAR members Dr.  M. G. I. S. Parakrama, Dr. A. D. W. R. Rajapakshe and Dr. N. Wickramaarachchi who attached to the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) as Senior Scientists. The topics covered were “Importance, Identification and Conservation of Endangered Endemic Fish Species in Sri Lanka, Aquatic Pollution and Preventive measures and Importance of Mangrove Ecosystems”.  Around 350 students participated in the workshop and suggested to disseminate knowledge among the school community through their school societies in the future.
